Day1 Taiyuan-Datong

On arrival you will be met by our guide at Datong train station. Visit Yungang Grottoes, which contain china's largest and earliest stone sculptures and are one of the three major grotto groups in china. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit HuaYan Temple, the largest and best preserved monastery of the Liao Dynasty in existence in China. This monastery was built according to the Huayan Sutra Sect of the Huayan School and is unique in that it faces east instead of south. Stay at Datong.

Day2 Datong

Drive to Pingyao Ancient City. On the way , visit the Hanging Temple,the most outstanding example of wooden structures in china. You will be amazed by the serried buildings supported by a dozen or so slim wooden pasts no more substantial than chopsticks. After admiring the Hanging Temple, transfer to Yin County to visit a Wooden Pagoda, the highest and the oldest multi-storied pure wooden pagoda in china. Stay at Datong.

Day3 Datong-Pingyao

A full day excursion to Pingyao Ancient city, the world cultural heritage, the most well-preserved ancient city in china and the only ancient walled city of the Han nationality. Visit the Ancient City Wall, one of the four grand ancient city walls in china. After lunch at a local folklore restaurant, visit RiShengchang Draft Bank, the forerunner of the first bank in china. Then, you will take a walk along the Ming and Qing Street(Chinese Wall Street) to fully appreciate the atmosphere of this ancient city. Stay at Pingyao.

Day4 Pingyao-Yuci

Your sightseeing this morning is the Chang's Family Compound, a splendid group of houses constructed during the Qing Dynasty and the residence of the most successful solar-traders in china. Transfer to the Ancient Hougou Village, the only ancient hamlet in China designated as a farming heritage site of Ming and Qing dynasty.
